ANNUAL HISTORIC DAYS

historic_days

  • Historic Day is the center’s biggest event of the year. Held in Community Park (by Weyenberg Library & behind Logemann), this free event is open to the public and encourages residents of all ages to celebrate local heritage. The focal point is an interactive historic campsite depicting life in the early 1800’s including a blacksmith, German immigrant family, flintnaper, primitive musician/fur trader, plus spinners and weavers. Other popular attractions are carriage rides, local historic displays, fiddlers, and food and artisan vendors. Children are encouraged to complete a Journey Map to earn a wooden nickel. A new tradition has begun featuring an 1800s exhibition baseball game on Historic Rennicke Field. Every year, the day before the event, local 4th grade classes studying early America are invited to tour the historic campsite privately and free of charge in a highly educational and interactive setting greatly appreciated by the parochial & public school district.
